As is so often the case with WIKING, a model is full of prototype history: the VW K70 came on the market with this type designation in 1970, but was actually planned as the NSU K70. The “K” stood in the factory for the piston engine and the NSU designers who had been planning the mid-range car since 1965 were supposed to be working towards a presentation at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1969. The K70 should mean a sensible gap in the NSU program between the popular Prinz and the Ro 80 with Wankel engine.
For this reason alone, the name K70 would have fit seamlessly into the Neckarsulm nomenclature. But things turned out differently and the Wolfsburg-based carmaker reached out to NSU and unceremoniously put their trademark on the K70. It wasn't until a year and a half later, in autumn 1970, that the four-door model ennobled as the VW K70 came onto the market. After all, the Wolfsburg-based company paid 33 marks per vehicle to their new subsidiary Audi NSU Auto-Union AG for the foundling they had received as compensation for development costs and investments in production facilities. The WIKING miniature, the model of which was designed by NSU Head of Design Claus Luthe, heralded the new VW decade after the model-making conception. The fact that the actual NSU K70 was ultimately to become a powerful fuel eater under the VW roof had to be attributed to the poor drag coefficient of 0.52 - the oil crisis that soon followed should help seal fate. At that time, WIKING presented the model with a glued-on radiator grille, which now has the look of the Neckarsulm prototype.

Returns
Sometimes things don't work out, and that's fine! We are happy to issue refunds for new, unopened items that have been sold and fulfilled here at House of Hobbies, within 30 days of delivery. Return costs for non faulty items are at the buyers expense. We will not issue refunds for multiple purchases of the same product at all so this should be taken into consideration when purchasing quantities of an item, whether for collecting or resale. Refunds on returned Pre Ordered items will only be issued as store credit.
Your refund will be sent to you after we have received the product back, and you should receive a full refund within four weeks at the latest (but in most cases, it will be far quicker - this time period just covers transit time for us receive the product back, send it to our distributor, and get a new one back if necessary, then have your refund processed by the bank). We will notify you via e-mail of your refund once we have received and processed the returned item.
If you need to send something back then please package it accordingly and post it to House of Hobbies, Unit F, Platts Lane Industrial Estate, Burscough, West Lancashire, L40 7TP and please include a little note explaining why it's coming back to us and your order number.
