8045 Chiki 5500 (2-car)

The container limited express train was born between Tokyo (Shiodome) and Osaka (Umeda) in November 1959 as the container-only train for the first time in Japan. A number of prototypes and tests are repeated for containers that are operated at high speed and containers that are loaded at the time of operation, and the result is the Chiki 5000 container wagon and the 5000 container. Mammoth Electric EH10, which boasted the latest and strongest at the time, was designated as a traction machine, and a Yo 5000 type with a two-stage link mechanism corresponding to 85 km / h was connected to the tail, Chiki 24 and Yo 5000 1 both It was driven by a total of 25 cars.
The Chiki 5000 painted in red No. 3 became the standard paint color of the container wagons thereafter. And the 5000 form container and the Yo 5000 form dedicated to the "Takarago" are painted in pale green, and the Yo 5000 form is further equipped with a "Takara" lamplight type tail mark, and it is bright that can not be thought of only black freight cars Appeared in coloring, the enthusiasm of JNR at the time is transmitted.
After that, the container express developed steadily, and appeared in the same section “the second wing” and “west way” between Hakata (Yoshizuka) and Osaka (Umeda) one after another, and laid the foundation for today's container transportation.
The production of the Chiki 5000 was discontinued for the first 55 cars manufactured for the Takano issue, and the improved Chiki 5500, with an additional deck that performs brake operation, was mass-produced from 1960. Both changed to Chiki ? Koki under the title change of 1965 (1965), and Koki 5000 has been reorganized into Koki 5500 after being remodeled by expansion of the deck, and the form has disappeared. In addition, the container, also the mass production type 6000 form appeared in 1960 (1960) and was used in the whole country.
