Sekisui Metals & KATO launched C50 in 1965 as the first full-scale domestic N gauge.

The 50th anniversary of the N gauge release 2015 (2015), a prototype C50 steam locomotive with a classical appearance such as a cosmetic chimney and a curved apron, with 50 years of modern technology, special Commercialized again as a planned product.

They were deployed almost nationwide except the Sea of Japan side and Shikoku, and they were active in high-speed trains and express light cargo (house-treated) trains in the suburbs of large cities. After the war, most were used as replacement machines, and the Ryomo Line and Nippo Main Line, which had been engaged in sales operations until the end, also withdrew in 1968 (1968) and all vehicles were scrapped in 1974 (1974).
