The elaborately designed locomotive symbolizes the history of the Cottbus vehicle repair from the steam locomotive refurbishment to the most modern plant for complicated maintenance of the ICEs with a special paintwork.
Prototype: Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) class 218 diesel locomotive, Cottbus vehicle maintenance facility. Diesel-hydraulic locomotive with electric train heating. Road number 218 497-6. Operating status from 2021.
For the first time in history, there will be a prototype locomotive and corresponding models featuring the logos of the two well-known model railroad manufacturers Märklin and PIKO.
For this special reason, the managing director of Märklin, Mr. Wolfrad Bächle, and the PIKO owner, Dr. René F. Wilfer, met in Cottbus. On the premises of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH (Train Maintenance - FZI),
the presentation of a special locomotive in prototype and as models took place within the framework of a, for operational reasons, non-public event. This newly presented locomotive is the diesel locomotive with the number 218 497-6. For several decades, the class 218 characterized the rail image of the German Federal Railroad. Even after the rail reform of 1994, it was frequently seen on the DB AG Group's route network. Over the years, many machines have disappeared from active service. The chosen prototype symbolizes the history of its new home at the Fahrzeuginstandhaltungs-Werk (FZI) in Cottbus, from steam locomotive overhaul to ICE maintenance in the future. The special feature of locomotive 218 497-6 is its eye-catching special paint scheme, which was the result of a creative competition among FZI employees: Steam locomotive era black and modern ICE era light gray with red band.
Marklin will offer this locomotive in HO (AC) Scale, Z Scale, N Scale (Minitrix), and Piko will produce an HO Scale (Analogue and Sound) version, and a version in G Scale.

Returns
Sometimes things don't work out, and that's fine! We are happy to issue refunds for new, unopened items that have been sold and fulfilled here at House of Hobbies, within 30 days of delivery. Return costs for non faulty items are at the buyers expense. We will not issue refunds for multiple purchases of the same product at all so this should be taken into consideration when purchasing quantities of an item, whether for collecting or resale. Refunds on returned Pre Ordered items will only be issued as store credit.
Your refund will be sent to you after we have received the product back, and you should receive a full refund within four weeks at the latest (but in most cases, it will be far quicker - this time period just covers transit time for us receive the product back, send it to our distributor, and get a new one back if necessary, then have your refund processed by the bank). We will notify you via e-mail of your refund once we have received and processed the returned item.
If you need to send something back then please package it accordingly and post it to House of Hobbies, Unit F, Platts Lane Industrial Estate, Burscough, West Lancashire, L40 7TP and please include a little note explaining why it's coming back to us and your order number.
