History of Class 47:

The Class 47 locomotives hold a significant place in British railway history. These iconic Brush Type 4 Diesel locomotives, powered by Sulzer engines, were versatile and practical, achieving a top speed of 75 mph and offering a tractive effort of 55,000lb. The Class 47 fleet, totaling 512 locomotives, formed the largest single class of main-line diesel locomotives in the UK.

These locomotives went through various modifications, including the introduction of the TOPS coding system. By the end of the 1990s, some had been withdrawn, some converted into Class 57 locomotives, while others were preserved, including the original No. D1500, now numbered 47401.

Adding the Bachmann Branchline Class 47/4 No. 47828 to your model railways is not just an acquisition; it's a tribute to the legacy of British railway models and miniature railways. Experience the perfect blend of history and craftsmanship in this beautifully recreated locomotive.
